The death must be registered by a close surviving relative of the deceased, usually a spouse, child, parent or family friend.
The news of a death should be broken face-to-face, or on the telephone. More distant relatives and friends may be told by personal email or letter.
When someone dies somebody has to deal with their estate (money, possessions and property left) by collecting all the money, paying debts and distributing what remains to those who are entitled to it.
